services do vary rather a lot. Not only are there obviously going
to be differences between a Sikh wedding and a Roman Catholic ceremony,
as you would expect. But civil ceremonies vary too. I
have photographed pagan weddings on beaches, blessings in country
gardens and Goth weddings in Whitby. Yes there are common elements
between these but as each wedding is unique each is memorable.
I always ensure that I speak to whoever is taking the service before
the ceremony starts to discuss the best place to photograph from
or the order of proceedings. This means that we understand each
other I'm fully briefed on the day. I will often take a cautious
approach when photographing at the front of a service as I believe
nothing should take the audiences focus off the happy couple.
